Our commitment to child safety
Pope Road Kindergarten:
- wants all children to be safe, happy and empowered
- values, respects and cares for children, staff and volunteers
- is committed to the rights, safety, participation and empowerment of all children, including:
- promoting the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children
- promoting the cultural safety of children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- promoting the safety of children with a disability
- fosters opportunities for each child to participate, express their views and to learn and develop
- has a zero tolerance of child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with robust policies and procedures.
- is committed to preventing child abuse and identifying risks early, and removing and reducing these risks
- has legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are concerned about a child’s safety
- continuously improves the way our kindergarten identifies risks of and responds to child abuse
- has recruitment, induction and training practices for Committee members, staff and volunteers on children abuse
- is committed to regular training and education for staff and volunteers on child abuse risks
- has specific policies and procedures in place that support our board members, staff and volunteers to achieve these commitments
